LOCATION:  The project is located on US-30 from just west of Monitor Road and extends east to the existing four-lane divided section just west of the US-281/N-2/US-30 interchange in Grand Island a distance of 3.4 miles.

INTENT OF PROJECT:  The intent of the highway improvement is to serve the projected traffic volumes by upgrading the roadway geometrics to current design standards and increase roadway capacity by providing 4 driving lanes (2 each direction).

SCOPE OF WORK:  The proposed work includes reconstructing the existing US 30 two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with raised median.

Alternative “A” Modified:  The new project will be built within the existing corridor shifted to the north to meet separation requirements adjacent to Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way.  The at-grade crossings at Engleman Road, Husker Hwy, and Monitor Road will all be closed.  A new viaduct along Husker Hwy will be constructed as part of the project.

Alternative “B” Modified:   The new project will be realigned north of the properties adjacent to the existing Highway 30.  New viaducts along Husker Highway and North Road would not be constructed as part of this project. These viaducts could be future projects.  The at-grade railroad crossings at Engleman Road, Husker Hwy, Monitor Road, and North Road would not be closed until the viaduct projects were completed.
